One purpose of the 教育学院’s assessment system is to facilitate ongoing improvement and ensure program quality and effectiveness. Another purpose is to provide information to stakeholders. The system has several parts, though the model is dependent on quantitative and qualitative data. Data is gathered through input evidence, such as applicant qualifications and previous experience, 输出证据, such as program-designed measures and externally scored tests. Evidence is analyzed and combined with the goal of generating useful information for program improvement. Results are shared with faculty, 工作人员, and various committees through an annual cycle which begins in September and concludes in August. The system also gathers feedback from users to achieve the following goals:
- Assesses outcomes in alignment with the conceptual framework and state standards
- Systematically gather evidence on candidate learning and program operations
- Collect candidate work samples that document positive impact on student learning
- Aggregate key data over time
- Incorporate perspectives of faculty, candidates, and P-12 partners
- Include processes and safeguards that ensure fair and unbiased evaluation
- Provide for regular analysis of assessment results
- Link results to program decision-making processes
